Villa Gesell was declared a city in 1970. It is considered one of the most important beach resorts in the Atlantic coast. It has fine sand beaches; with pines, acacias, tamarind and eucalyptus woods. 
It offers an excellent tourist infrastructure with numberless hotels and houses for temporary rent, camp grounds, and it has a busy night life. Its entertainment establishments, especially for the youngers, constitute the main characteristic of this place.
This village, has 10 km. of vast beaches with very gentle slopes and nice temperature. 
Villa Gesell comprises from the great movement of the beach resorts, cafeterias and discotheques to the arid landscape offered by the huge dunes suitable to be crossed in four wheeled motorcycles.
