Buenos Aires is a great metropolis
with numberless means of transport that take you to any point of the city
(Capital Federal), its roundabouts (Gran Buenos Aires), and virtually to any
point of the country.
Here we provide a summary of the available means of transport within the
city.
The underground is the quickest
means to move within Capital Federal. The system currently covers around 46 km,
with 80 stations and carries, annually, 250 millon passangers.
It has a fixed fare that is paid in the ticket offices of any of its stations.
Each token allows you to go to any part of the city, even to make long trips
changing lines.
The ticket fare is $ 0,70 and subway services
operate from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM Monday throught Saturday and 8:00 AM to 10:00
PM on Sundays.
Tickets or subtepass are purchased in the subway
stations.
Here we show you a diagram with all the underground lines with its corresponding
stations.
Within the city of Buenos Aires
there are 32.000 taxis. The fare consists of an initial price plus an additional
charge calculated according to time and distance travelled. Such fare must be
paid at the end of the trip according to the quantity displayed in the clock
placed on the right of the front windshield. The vehicles are painted as
follows: yellow on the roof and black on the rest of the its body.
The exact fare is displayed on an
electronical meter that stars al $ 1,12 an adds $ 0,14 for every two hundred
meters (two blocks aproximately).
There
are many radiotaxis companies. They are ordered by telephone and pick up
passengers anywhere. They do not charge extra and they are safer depending on
the hour and the place.
The
remise is a service similar to the radiotaxi, only the cars have no markings and
they calculate the fare based on the distance.
The bus (also called micro or
colectivo in Argentina), is one of the means of transport mostly used to move
along the Capital and the Gran Buenos Aires. The fare is related to the stations
travelled, it must be paid by introducing
coins (according to the value of your trip) in automatic machines. It is not necessary to hace exact change because the
machines return money, but it is necesary to hace coins because the driver does
not change bills. You
must get on by the front door and get off by the back or central door depending
on the bus model. The vehicles are painted in different colours according
to the line they belong to, which, by the way, make up more than a hundred.
The train is the most adecuate
means of transport to move along the Capital and the most convenient to reach
the Gran Buenos Aires. The fare varies according to the distance travelled, and
has to be paid in the corresponding station. There are numerous lines, all of
which you will see in this diagram:
Ferrobaires - Ex Línea Roca (Constitución Station: 4304-0028/31/36)
Ferrovías - Ex Belgrano
Norte (Retiro Station: 4511-8846/33 - 0800-777-3377)

To
travel by car within our country there exists an important paving railway system
perfectly signalled (if you are from abroad you must have international driving
license). In
many routes you have to pay a toll in order to be allowed to move along them.
Here we offer a detail with the tariffs you must pay:

There are several long distance
transport companies to reach, virtually, any part of the country by bus in
comfortable units (some of them are cimatized
including colour TV, toilette and hostess service). They leave
from the terminal station located in the neighbourhood of Retiro (Tel.:
4310-0700). Due to the large quantity of companies and the destinations they
cover, it would be imposible to list them in detail. That's why here we show you
a list comprising all the companies with the number of ticket offices they have
within the station and its telephones and extension numbers, so that you can
gather the information you need about destinations and frequencies:
As Argentina is a vast country,
planes are the quickest means of transport to reach the tourist destinations of
the inner part of the country, especially the furthermost ones. Here you will
find a diagram with the approximate duration of the flights and the distances to
the most important points of the country:
These destinations are covered
by different companies that perform domestic flights, with
the possibility of making combinations later on with overland transports to go
to other smaller urban centres either by bus, taxis or remisses.
Here we offer a list with the companies that fly to the interior of the country
so that you can gather information about frequencies and destinations:
